From the gathering of the half shekel we read about last week they collected 100 Kikar (Talents) of silver. From that collection they were to create the Adanim (bases) of the columns of the tabernacle. The commentators say this is an indirect reference to the obligation that everyone has to recite 100 blessings daily stated in the Talmud and attributed to King David. As such we see a connection that every Jew had, and still has, to the tabernacle in being the vehicle to express praise to the Almighty on a daily basis.

David recognized that the suffering taking place in his time was due to the lack of appreciation and decreed this practice as a remedy and it worked. Blessing God demonstrates our appreciation for the good that we have in this world and thus will be a catalyst for more good to be divinely bestowed!

Special thanks to Nancy Aaronson and Perry Parker for sponsoring the community Shabbat dinner this Friday night in memory of his father George and his first yahrtzeit. Please register immediately if you are planning on attending!

Special welcome to JCP this Sunday as our partners in a gala children’s Purim Carnival from 2-4:30pm.

With the changing of the clock this Saturday evening the weekday evening service and 12:40pm afternoon service are on hiatus until November.
