The Book of Exodus is the story of our glorious redemption, heralding the entering of the promised land. Unfortunately, as we know, an exodus implies an existence of torturous incarceration, which is a fancy way of saying we were slaves in Egypt.

But our sages say, as difficult as it may sound, this period was also something we benefited from in at least 2 ways. In a crucible, a base material becomes refined which is what happened to us as a nation. Additionally, we can say that we acquired an incredible resilience which has served us well throughout the millennia. That we are still here after expulsions, pogroms, the holocaust etc. may be due, at least in part, to the toughness that became imbedded in our DNA from that long ago tough time.

Please help make the minyanim over Shabbat!

We are also working hard to build our profile on social media. Please take the opportunity to get a richer view of the fabric of our synagogue life!
