This week we see one of the greatest acts of self sacrifice in the Torah. Clearly Rachel was aware of her father's trickery but allowed it to happen because she feared the humiliation of her sister. But it goes further in that she had no guarantee that Jacob would marry her especially considering they were sisters. Thus we see someone willing to sacrifice her entire future spiritual legacy to preserve human dignity. That is the definition of our matriarch!
