We will complete the book of Leviticus this weekend with Behukotai. The beginning details the many blessings that accompany the performance of mitzvot and the implied study of Torah. Some have wondered why the total emphasis on physical rewards for essentially spiritual activity. The consensus seems to be that generally, the blessings of the Torah are more of a means than an end. By having health and prosperity, the goal of achieving holiness and spirituality is more easily attainable. And further, it would be impossible to properly describe the full extent of the reward for a moral life to us as limited mortals.
We bless the new month of Sivan this Shabbat for Rosh Chodesh that will take place this Tuesday.
