We complete the series of 4 special readings this Shabbat with the portion called HaChodesh, referring to the mitzvah of consecrating the new moon right before the mitzvah to bring the Passover sacrifice. The key phrase is "Lachem" which means "to you", meaning to say that you are in charge of determining when the new month is to begin and heaven follows your lead.

The sages expand this concept by explaining that God is actually putting the entity of time in our hands to determine the calendar and thus the course of the whole year. Halevai we should be able to recognize how profound a responsibility this is and act accordingly.

The weekly portion is Tazria which deals primarily with skin conditions, albeit related to one's spiritual health and not applicable to the post temple era. And this Shabbat is also Rosh Chodesh Nisan so that a total of 3 Torahs are read from in the course of the morning service.

Reserve ASAP for our community seder Saturday evening April 16th!

Tremendous thanks to Chava Chalom who will be sponsoring security for the 5 Shabatot of Nisan!
