Terumah begins the next 5 weeks of focusing on the mishkan (tabernacle) and its accoutrements. The mishkan facilitated the Divine vision behind creation. As the midrash states, it was God's desire to be able to descend from His perch in the holy heavens and reside in this physical realm that He created. With the completion of the mishkan, this goal was finally achieved.

Rosh Chodesh Adar 1 was also the Chinese new year as the two cultures maintain the exact same calendar. In recognition of this, our kiddush will reflect both cuisines. Indeed, the end of Chapter 5 of Ethics of the Fathers states: הוי עז כנמר...לעשות רצון אביך שבשמים One should be as bold as a tiger to do the will of our Father in heaven. How appropriate a message as we begin the year of the tiger!

Tot Shabbat has been rescheduled for this Saturday at 10:30am.

Woman's study group doing the Book of Esther resumes this Saturday following Kiddush.
