In Vaera we have the first 7 plagues and our process of redemption begins. Curiously, the Torah seems to digress by reviewing our genealogy but then stops at Moses and Aaron with the tribe of Levi. The sages explain that there are two goals here, firstly to humanize these great leaders that would be the agents of the great Divine plan for the world. But secondly, and conversely, to establish their status as special human beings such that the world shouldn't think that just anyone could have fit this role.

This Shabbat we bless the new month of Shevat which falls on Monday. The molad is this Monday morning at 2:23am with 15 Chalakim.

This week the kiddush will be enhanced by Chava Chalom wishing everybody a joyous, healthy, COVID-free, peaceful 2022.

And please pray for a speedy recovery for her brother. He has been in the hospital for 3 weeks, Eliahu Ben Aharona. Refuah Shlaimah!

Deserts sponsored by Harvey Herbert in celebration of his coming birthday.
