The Torah tells us to observe a Yom Tov on the 7th day of Passover but is mute about why. We do know that our tradition says this was the day that the Red Sea split and our enemies were destroyed and hence we were saved. So on the one hand the day represented the greatest display of Divine power in history and we were the beneficiaries so there is cause for celebration. On the other hand there was great destruction of humanity so the Torah doesn't publicize the reason for our holiday.

We observe Yizkor on the 8th day of Passover and this year we might consider having in mind the additional losses suffered due to the Corona virus. Services this weekend remain indoors due to the weather and Yizkor at the TriBeCa Synagogue will be recited indoors Sunday morning during services at approximately 11am. We will accommodate those still uncomfortable being indoors by holding a second Yizkor outdoors at noon.

Our virtual synagogue will be on hiatus this weekend due to the holiday. Portion of the Week, Greet Shabbat and Havdalah/Kumzitz will not be convening.

Taking care of your chametz needs with an old friend.
