Rabbi Ari Enkin had a fascinating observation regarding the story of creation in Bereishit. He noted that the term Tov (good) was stated for every aspect of creation with the exception of the creation of humankind. It seems counterintuitive to call a squid good and not the amazing human being.

He explains that one can only use the term good for a finished product like an animal as opposed to the human being who is created with potential that is supposed to be attained during it's sojourn on this earth. If one does, then maybe then one can pronounce good but until then we have to say the jury is out.

This is an especially relevant message at this time of year at the heels of a season dedicated to resolving for self improvement.

So join us tonight  at for an enlightening parsha session on Zoom!

This Shabbat we bless the new month of Cheshvan which will begin on Sunday and Monday.

The Downtown Minyan will again be joining us for Saturday morning services. In person services will remain outdoors weather permitting. To help us keep track of attendance, please, if at all possible, register in advance at this link.  All are welcome!

TriBeCa Synagogue thanks everyone who helped organize our 5781 holiday season under very challenging circumstances. Also to our staff of Alex Glass and Dolores Wine of our office and Mike Galliano and Akira for our maintenance needs.
